What Allu Arjun Was Asked by Police in the “Pushpa 2” Stampede Incident

Allu Arjun was taken into police custody on December 13, nine days after the stampede at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre. He was sent to judicial custody for 14 days shortly afterward, but within a few hours, he was granted interim bail and released.

Allu Arjun was questioned by the Hyderabad Police on Tuesday regarding a stampede at a city theatre earlier this month, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her 8-year-old child seriously injured. The police had summoned the actor for questioning on Monday as part of their investigation.

During the questioning, the police asked several key questions, such as:

  • Were you aware that the police had denied permission for you to attend the premiere?
  • Who decided to go ahead with the plan for you to attend the screening despite the police refusal?
  • Did any police officer inform you about the stampede outside the theatre?
  • When did you find out about the woman’s death?

These questions focus on two main points of the investigation: whether Mr. Arjun had permission to attend the event at the theatre and whether he was allowed to interact with fans outside the venue, which is located in an area with other cinemas.

Allu Arjun had been arrested on December 13, nine days after the stampede. He was later sent to judicial custody for 14 days, though he was released on interim bail shortly after.

After his arrest, Allu Arjun was unexpectedly granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court. The court pointed out his fundamental right to liberty and questioned the police’s actions, stating, “Just because he is an actor, he cannot be treated like this.”

The police claim that Allu Arjun’s sudden arrival at the theatre, where a special screening of his new film was being held, caused the stampede. Fans rushed to catch a glimpse of the actor, causing a chaotic scene. In the confusion, a woman named Revathi died, and her child was injured. The police managed to pull them from under the crowd and performed emergency first aid before taking them to a nearby hospital.

According to the police’s timeline, by the time the stampede occurred, Allu Arjun had already entered the theatre after holding what the police describe as an impromptu roadshow, despite being warned not to do so. The actor reportedly arrived at the theatre around 9:30 pm. He used the main entrance and spent about 15 to 20 minutes outside, during which news of his arrival spread quickly. As large crowds gathered, his security team and theatre bouncers tried to control the situation, but their efforts only made things worse, escalating the chaos.

The police have also criticized the bouncers for acting irresponsibly. Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said last week that the bouncers were focused only on protecting the VIP (Allu Arjun) and were pushing everyone out of the way, even though both the public and police were present.

Meanwhile, Allu Arjun has firmly rejected any blame for the tragic death. At a press conference on Saturday, he called the incident “very unfortunate” and condemned what he referred to as “misinformation” and an attempt to damage his reputation.

Following the tragic stampede outside the Sandhya Theatre, the Hyderabad Police have pointed fingers at the bouncers who were present at the event, accusing them of acting recklessly. Police Commissioner CV Anand stated that, despite the presence of both the public and police officers, the bouncers were overly focused on protecting Allu Arjun and made no effort to control the crowd. Their actions reportedly worsened the situation by pushing people aside, which may have contributed to the chaos that led to the stampede.

On the other hand, Allu Arjun has consistently denied any responsibility for the incident. In his public statement, he expressed deep regret over the tragic loss of life but refuted claims that he played a role in causing the stampede. He also spoke out against what he described as misinformation and attempts to damage his reputation through “character assassination.” The actor emphasized that the event was an unfortunate accident and not something that he or his team intended.

The investigation continues, with police focusing on several key issues: whether proper permissions were in place for Allu Arjun’s appearance at the theatre, and whether security measures were sufficient to prevent such a disaster. While Allu Arjun has been released on interim bail, the police are still working to determine the full sequence of events that led to the deadly stampede.
