Many eligible citizens in Telangana are waiting for new ration cards, but the government has been slow in processing and issuing them. Minister Uttam recently addressed this issue and stated that the government plans to start distributing the new ration cards from the festival of Sankranti, ensuring that eligible individuals will receive their cards soon.

People in Telangana are eagerly waiting for new ration cards. Due to the long delay in issuing ration cards, families that have been separated or newly married individuals are wondering when they will receive their cards. Most government schemes in the state are linked to ration cards, so people are also waiting to benefit from those schemes. In this context, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, who handles the Civil Supplies department, has given an important update about the approval of new ration cards.

During the second day of the Assembly session, Minister Uttam responded to a question asked by a member. He confirmed that new ration cards will be issued to eligible individuals. He assured that this process will begin soon, and the approval of ration cards will start from Sankranti. The minister also reminded that a Cabinet sub-committee has already been formed to discuss the matter. He revealed that nearly 36 lakh people across Telangana are expected to receive new ration cards. In addition to issuing the new ration cards, Minister Uttam also announced that they would provide fine rice to the beneficiaries.

The Legislative Council Chairman, Gutta Sukender Reddy, made key suggestions regarding the approval of ration cards. He stated that ration cards should only be issued to those who truly need them. He emphasized that the government should ensure justice for the rightful beneficiaries. He pointed out that some ineligible people have received ration cards, which is harming the government’s revenue. He advised Civil Supplies officials to conduct a thorough investigation and remove the cards of those who do not need them. The Council Chairman also suggested that the government should distribute supplies only to those who are living in poverty.

Currently, Telangana has 89.96 lakh ration cards, and the government is preparing to issue an additional 36 lakh new ration cards. The government has decided to provide new ration cards and health cards separately. It has already announced that every eligible family in the state will receive both ration and health cards. In this context, Minister Uttam made an announcement about the approval of new ration cards in the Assembly, bringing joy to the eligible beneficiaries.
